Nikolai Pak is a contemporary artist whose works immerse the viewer in deep existential and philosophical reflections on humanity. His approach to art is distinguished by the use of symbolic realism, which allows him to create metaphorical images that go beyond simple portrait likeness.
Nikolai Pak was born in 1983 in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Since 1995, he has lived in Rostov the Great, where he began to actively develop his artistic talent. In 1999, Nikolai entered the Yaroslavl Art School, where he studied until 2004. After that, he continued his education at the St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological University, at the Monumental Art Department of the Faculty of Church Arts, graduating in 2008. In 2017, Nikolai defended his diploma at the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute with a major in Painting, and since then he has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the Moscow Union of Artists.
Throughout his creative career, Nikolai has taken part in a number of exhibitions. In 2014, he was featured at the Youth Exhibition at the Moscow Union of Artists (MOSH) on Begovaya. In 2016, his works were displayed at the Faces of Russia exhibition at the Central House of Artists in Moscow, and from 2015 to 2017 he actively participated in the Youth Exhibition of the Moscow Union of Artists on Kuznetsky Most. In 2017, the In the House on Brestskaya exhibition took place in Moscow, and in 2023 Nikolai returned to his native Rostov the Great with the Association of Rostov Artists exhibition.
Nikolai’s creative path has also been marked by a number of awards and recognitions. He became a laureate of the All‑Russian Youth Exhibition at the Central House of Artists in 2016 for the works 32nd Floor and Mother. In 2015, Nikolai received an incentive trip to Italy for outstanding academic performance. He was also awarded a diploma for second place in the Best Composition nomination at the Moscow Academy of Arts for the work Station. In 2014, Nikolai became a laureate of the MOSH Youth Exhibition on Begovaya for the painting Grandmother and took first place in the Plein Air 2014 competition at the Surikov Institute for the work 32nd Floor. Also in 2014, he was awarded a MOSH diploma For Achievements and Contribution to Art for his studies.

Man as God’s chief creation, his life journey, life and death.
Man in society or in nature, or his presumed presence.
I am drawn to symbolic realism, the language of the parable, when, say, there is no actual portrait likeness — there is an image of a personality.
Whether it’s a person, a city, houses, grass, or an apple.
