Родился в городе Алапаевску в 1943 году. В 1957 семья переехала в Свердловск. Учился в изостудии Дворца Пионеров В 1961 году поступил в УПИ на строительный факультет, спецальность - планировка городов, позже перешел на архитектуру гражданских зданий.
